The Guides

Fran Berrocal

Fran was born and raised in Coyhaique, Chile and as far as we know is the only female fly fishing guide in all of Chile and maybe in all of Patagonia. Her father operates a rafting company in Coyhaique and Fran grew up on the river and began developing her exceptional rowing skills from a very young age. Seeing there were no women fishing guides working in this region, Fran saw an opportunity and decided to dive into the sport 6 or 7 years ago and due to her solid river skills, she quickly established herself as one of the areas most sought after young fly fishing guides. She is now sponsored by the Patagonia company among others brands and is involved in several conservation projects in Patagonia. Being exceptionally outgoing and possessing a natural “get-er-done” attitude, Fran is a fun and highly capable guide to spend your day with.

Ethan “Leds” Ledford

Ethan Ledford grew up in Marquette Michigan fishing for brook trout and chasing Lake Superior run steelhead. His favorite pursuit there was throwing bigs streamers for wily musky. He eventually migrated out west and for the past 4 years has been living and guiding in the Vail Valley of Colorado. His river experience there includes rowing the Roaring Fork, Colorado River and Gore Canyon as well as wade fishing and guiding on several productive lakes in the area.

Ethan is known for his relaxed demeanor and professional approach to guiding. He’s also known for being a very fishy guide who truly enjoys sharing his passion for fly fishing and helping clients' progress in the sport. Ethan is also a skilled oarsman and a top-notch instructor.

Ethan Scott

Ethan is a native of Swampscott, Massachusetts, near Boston. His love of fly fishing began on the small creeks and rivers in New Hampshire with his family. The Pemigewasset River, catching brookies on a fly rod, created the mystique and his current obsession with fly fishing for trout. As a young adult, Ethan spent every moment studying each aspect of fly fishing. Soon a fascination about the American west developed. The Rocky Mountains captured his imagination with powerful rivers and their monster trout inhabitants. He was sold! In his early 20’s he moved out west to finish his college degree in outdoor education. After I graduated, leaving Colorado was not an option, instead, he wanted to continue chasing trout with a fly rod in the Rocky Mountains by making it a day-to-day part of his life. From leading raft trips with RIGS, to float fishing, and fly fishing – guiding was obviously next. The best way to describe Ethan’s passion for fly fishing is in his own words. “I jump at the opportunity to spend a day on the water with the prospect of sharing my knowledge of the sport that I have come to love. I welcome all to spend a day on the water with me! Does not matter your age or experience level with fly fishing. Just love the opportunity to share my passion for fly fishing with others!”
